Please Help.

ImportantJust a few words about our babies. We will no longer adopt to families with a big dog either outside or inside. Too many of our pugs have been either injured or killed by large dogs that have gotten along with them for years. We simply can not take that chance any longer. If you have any questions, contact us for more information.

Adoption Fees

Adoption fees range from $125.00 to $300.00 depending on the age and health of the Pug. The fee will be discussed during the application period. The fee is in place to cover the costs of vaccination, spay or neuter, heartworm testing and to treat other medical issues.

Sophie
Luke

As you can see, Luke is one happy little guy. He was surrendered to us by his previous family as they had too many dogs to care for. He is eighteen months old and full of life and energy. He likes to play but is also very sweet and loves attention. He would love a fur brother or sister to hang out with and play with. He needs to gain a few pounds and will be even more handsome when he does. Luke is hoping is new family finds him soon so he can start his new life.

If you would like to adopt Luke, be a Virtual Foster or just make a donation, contact us at homewardboundpugs@cox.net.

Luke
Sophie

Sophie came to us four years ago and was adopted. Her family recently called us and gave her back. They were moving and couldn’t take her with them. This is so very hard for our sweet pugs to be moved once again when they thought they had a forever home. When Sophie came back to us she was underweight and had a severe skin infection. She is putting on weight and is feeling so much better. Sophie is now seven years old and looking for love once again. She is a sweet girl and loves to just hang out with her family on the sofa and sleep in bed with them at night. She is hoping her new family sees how pretty she is and gives her a second chance to find happiness in a loving home.

If you would like to adopt Sophie, be a Virtual Foster or just make a donation, contact us at homewardboundpugs@cox.net.

Elmer Fudd
Elmer Fudd

Poor little Elmer was surrendered by his owners. They didn’t even bring him to the shelter but had Animal Control pick him up. Our vet said he had the worst flea infestation he had ever seen. There were literally thousands crawling all over him. We can only imagine how horrible it was for him to be eaten up with fleas and scratching constantly. Elmer Fudd is also very underweight and almost completely blind. He is responding to love and is becoming a happy little puglet. He loves to be with you and is a great cuddle bug. He gets “lost” sometimes and would love a fur brother or sister to be his eyes and hang out with. People don’t know what they are missing by having a senior to love. They are so easy to care for and just want to be by your side. Please give Elmer a chance to learn that there are good loving homes out there.

If you would like to adopt Elmer Fudd, be a Virtual Foster or just make a donation, contact us at homewardboundpugs@cox.net.

Baxter
Baxter

Baxter is a handsome guy that was turned in as a stray. When all efforts failed at finding his previous owners, he was turned over to us. We can’t understand why no one was looking for him. Baxter is no more than two years old and is a very sweet and loving boy. He likes to play but also likes to snuggle with his family. Baxter is ready and eager to start his new life with a family that will love him forever.

If you would like to adopt Baxter, be a Virtual Foster or just make a donation, contact us at homewardboundpugs@cox.net.

Lucky
Lucky

Lucky came in with her brother Dexter. Her human mommy died suddenly and Lucky and her brother were curled up next to her when friends came in to check. Despite what she went through, Lucky is a happy and energetic two year old. She lost her eye at an early age but we just think it gives her more character. She would love to be placed with her brother but she is the more dominant one, which is very typical for a black diva. Lucky is hoping her new family sees how beautiful she is and will bring her home with them.

If you would like to adopt Lucky, be a Virtual Foster or just make a donation, contact us at homewardboundpugs@cox.net.

Dexter
Dexter

Dexter is three years old and came in with his sister Lucky. His mommy died suddenly and when friends came in to check on her they found Dexter and his sister curled up next to her. Dexter would love to be placed with his sister. Despite his ordeal, he is such a loving and sweet little boy. He is the more needy of the two. He insists on being close to you and will cuddle right next to you when he sleeps. He loves to play with toys and will fetch and bring back to you if you toss a toy for him to chase. That little tongue of his is always sticking out a bit. He gets along great with his foster brothers and sisters but doesn’t like to share your lap so we are working on that. I am sure it is because of his loss that he is a bit clingy right now. Who can blame his as he went through a very traumatic experience. Dexter is going to make some lucky family a wonderful addition. He has so much love to give!

If you would like to adopt Dexter, be a Virtual Foster or just make a donation, contact us at homewardboundpugs@cox.net.

Dougie

Dougie is the sweetest nine year old ever. He is well behaved, gentle and loving. His family could no longer care for him and called us. Dougie had to have a dental and lost several teeth but that didn’t slow him down in the eating department. Dougie loves everyone and all of his foster fur brothers and sisters. Malakei
Malakei

Malakei was left outside with no food or water and no shelter from the hot sun. A kind neighbor would provide water and food for him and basically kept him alive. When his family moved, they left poor little Malakei abandoned in the back yard which was probably the best thing that could have happened. What kind of people would leave such a sweet boy behind! Malakei is not even two years old and has so much love to give. He gets along great with his fur foster siblings and doesn’t even chase the cat. He is a sweet boy that has lots of love to give. All he asks is that his new family take good care of him and never leave him outside alone again.

If you would like to adopt Malakei, be a Virtual Foster or just make a donation, contact us at homewardboundpugs@cox.net.

Pearl
Pearl

Pearl is seven years old and was turned into a local shelter by her owner. It is possible Pearl might be older but we are not positive. She is very camera shy and after chasing her around the house and yard for several minutes, she finally plopped down on a dog bed and let us take her picture. Pearl is as round as she is long but so very sweet. She came to us with a urinary tract infection and upon further examination we discovered she was loaded with bladder stones. There were three huge ones and several small ones inside of her. She must have been so uncomfortable and I am sure feels so much better now. Pearl loves to be by your side and is just a complete squishy love. She has lots of love to give and hopes there is a family out there looking for a sweet senior to love.

If you would like to adopt Pearl , be a Virtual Foster or just make a donation, contact us at homewardboundpugs@cox.net.

Rooney
Rooney

Captain Phil
Captain Phil

Captain Phil was found wandering the streets of a small town in MO. All attempts to find his family failed. We believe he was just dumped like so many others that come into rescue. He is only about a year old and very sweet and playful. Captain Phil went to a home but the male pug there didn’t like him. He would love a home with a pug sister or mellow brother to play with. He is a lover, not a fighter. ? Captain Phil is a healthy little boy that is eager to start his new life with a loving family that will take good care of him and protect him.

If you would like to adopt Captain Phil, be a Virtual Foster or just make a donation, contact us at homewardboundpugs@cox.net.

Zoe
Zoe

Zoe is a pretty little four year old. She was surrendered with her two sisters and one brother. Zoe likes to play and is not very big. Guess she thought that was a very small pool. Zoe is all ready to start her new life with a loving family.

If you would like to adopt Zoe, be a Virtual Foster or just make a donation, contact us at homewardboundpugs@cox.net.

Bailey
Bailey Bailey

Bailey is a sweet two to three year old Puggle. She loves to play all the time and gives lots of kisses. Bailey likes to be close by but doesn’t have to be on your lap. She is a loyal little girl and is always there to greet you when you come home after being gone a while. Bailey enjoys playing outside and would be a great friend to children over six years old. She sometimes jumps on you and doesn’t know her own strength. We are working on manners and Bailey is learning to listen and play by the house rules. She is going to make some family a loyal and loving companion.

If you would like to adopt Bailey, be a Virtual Foster or just make a donation, contact us at homewardboundpugs@cox.net.

Priscilla
Priscilla

Priscilla was being peddled down the street in a bicycle basket in 104 degree heat. She was panting really badly and was overheated. The person on the bike noticed that someone was watching so approached them and asked if they wanted her. He was going to go to Walmart to sell her for twenty dollars! He said he got her for his wife and she didn’t want her. Before the lady could take her she jumped down and started running in the street. After a merry chase down main street in traffic, three people finally cornered her and by that time she was ready to collapse. We were called and went and got Prissy right away. This little girl is frightened right now but such a sweet little thing. What an ordeal for her to have to go through. She is most likely three or four years old, very petite, and is ready to start her new life with a loving family what won’t try to sell her on the street.

If you would like to adopt Pricilla, be a Virtual Foster or just make a donation, contact us at homewardboundpugs@cox.net.

Roger
Roger

Roger is between two and three years old and was in a local shelter as a stray. When we picked him up we noticed a huge mass hanging down. Upon examination we found out that Roger had a softball sized inguinal hernia that was wrapped around his intestines and one testicle. Roger is also heartworm positive. We decided to do the surgery right away as the hernia appeared to be getting even larger and poor little Roger had to be so uncomfortable. He did well for the surgery and is now so happy and playful. He loves everyone and will start his heartworm treatment in September. Roger would love a home to call his very own and recuperate in. He is a sweet little guy that deserves a second chance at a great life and loving family who will take good care of him forever.

If you would like to adopt Roger, be a Virtual Foster or just make a donation, contact us at homewardboundpugs@cox.net.

If you would like to adopt Sluggo, be a Virtual Foster or just make a donation, contact us at homewardboundpugs@cox.net.

Opal
Opal

Opal was brought to a local shelter as a result of a puppy mill bust. This tiny nine pound girl was used for breeding most likely her entire life. Opal is nine years old and never felt grass under her feet or the love of a family. Her only purpose on earth was to put money in the pockets of her heartless owners. She has a bad skin condition but is getting better and stronger every day. Now that she knows that humans can be kind and loving, she is becoming the pug she was always meant to be. She likes to be able to see her human and gets upset if they are not close by. Opal never gave up and we won’t give up on her either. She is ready to prove what love a puppy mill girl has to offer and is hoping her forever home will fall in love with her soon.

If you would like to adopt Opal, be a Virtual Foster or just make a donation, contact us at homewardboundpugs@cox.net.

Precious
Precious

Precious was turned into the Tulsa Shelter when her skin condition got out of control and her owners could no longer care for her. Precious is only three years old and came in with a severe staph infection in her skin but one that can be completely cured. Poor little girl must have been suffering really badly from all the scratching and itching. She is being treated and with good food, lots of love and a family to call her own, she will be healthy and happy in no time. She has the cutest little face!

Tessa
Tessa Tessa Picture 2

Tessa is a sweet girl that has had puppies all of her young life. She was tossed aside and left alone in the country. Tess is between two and four years old and loves everyone including her fur foster siblings. Her little jaw was probably broken some time ago and her tongue will stick out at times. She eats fine though, and although quiet and kind of shy, has started to act like a happy pug should act. She came to us very thin but we will fatten her up in no time. Her coat is scruffy right now but with good food and lots of love it will be shiny and pretty very soon. Tessa is going to make some lucky family a perfect addition.

If you would like to adopt Tessa, be a Virtual Foster or just make a donation, contact us at homewardboundpugs@cox.net.

Andy
Andy

Andy is one of our sweet seniors who came into a local shelter with his sister Annie. They both were in terrible shape. Poor little Annie was very old and her frail body just couldn’t take any more abuse. Andy lost his sister, but he survived. Andy’s teeth were in such horrible shape that he had to have an emergency dental. He lost all but one tooth. Andy also has eye issues and is deaf. But despite all of his problems he is a happy and loving boy. It breaks our hearts when these precious souls are left all alone in a shelter to die. We just couldn’t leave Andy behind. Most people won’t even look at him or consider him for adoption because of his age and medical problems, but we hope that there is a family out there that will look past his age and give this sweet boy a loving home. Andy has so much love to give and only wants love in return. Please open your heart and home to this boy who has gone through so much to find a family to love.

If you would like to adopt Andy, be a Virtual Foster or just make a donation, contact us at homewardboundpugs@cox.net.

Gertie
Gertie

Gertie is a sweet girl, around seven years young. She was in a local shelter and had to spend several days there hoping her family would come for her. But we knew they wouldn’t. Gertie is just another example of how irresponsible people can be and how disposable these precious pugs are to so many. It is heartbreaking to think that anyone would leave a little girl out in this heat to wander the streets by herself and be lost and alone. Because of this neglect Gertie had lots of problems when she came to us. She had fleas, a urinary tract infection and is HW positive. When you look at Gertie, her eyes tell a story, but she is still a trusting and sweet girl. Gertie is on the road to recovery and has so much love to give a new family. She loves to sleep with you at night and gets along with her foster siblings. Gertie is ready to show how much love she has to give and will soon be ready to meet her new family.

If you would like to adopt Gertie, be a Virtual Foster or just make a donation, contact us at homewardboundpugs@cox.net.

Summer was picked up from a local shelter and can’t understand how anyone could let her wind up there. Summer will be your shadow and follow you everywhere. She is a happy girl that is hoping her new best friend finds her soon.

If you would like to adopt Summer, be a Virtual Foster or just make a donation, contact us at homewardboundpugs@cox.net.

Iggy Iggy

Poor little Iggy is no more than two years old and skin and bones when we got him. He was dumped in the country and had sores all over his body from ticks and fleas. Because of the neglect he suffered, he tested positive for heartworms. He is on meds and will have his heartworm treatment in July and be ready to recover in his new home. Iggy is finding out what good food, toys and a warm bed with lots of love is all about. He is hoping his forever home will see him and give him a fresh start in life with lots of love. How can anyone resist his sweet face?

Boomer and Dhandy Boomer and Dhandy

Boomer and Dhandy are just the cutest Mother and Son pair. Dhandy is six years old and Boomer is four. Dhandy is content to sit on your lap and be loved on Boomer likes to be right there by your side or at your feet. They both love to lay on you and get belly rubs. Boomer is quite vocal when playing or when you first get home. They are active and playful and just a very sweet pair. Most pug people have more than one pug, so this is the perfect opportunity to get a bonded pair that will give you twice as much love.

Don Vito
Don Vito

Don Vito is a precious little guy that just turned one in April. His daddy is helping protect our country in Iraq and there was just no time for Vito with two small children to take care of by mommy. He is the sweetest little guy and just loves to be held or play with his rubber piggy or suck on his stuffed beaver. He is so wrinkled he looks like a Sharpei but is 100% pug. Even his little feet are wrinkled. Vito is such a love and will make some lucky family a wonderful addition. For a youngster he is very mellow and laid back. He gets along great with all his foster brothers and sisters and even went to a pug meet up the other day and did fine. He is still a bit confused with his new surroundings so we are hoping he can be placed quickly to start his new life. If you have been looking for a young pug boy, this little fella might be just the one. If you would like to adopt Don Vito, be a Virtual Foster or just make a donation, contact us at homewardboundpugs@cox.net.
Don Vito is currently on medical hold.

UPDATE
Don Vito has been a very sick little boy. Two weeks after we got him he started showing neurological symptoms and was immediately rushed to the vet. All his liver values were off the charts and it was determined he had a liver shunt. He spent a week in the hospital trying to get his seizures under control, receiving IV fluids and meds. He finally got to come home but because of his liver not functioning he is blind. He was strong enough for surgery in late December and although he has come a long way, we don’t know if we will ever see the puppy he once was. As you can imagine, his vet bills are extensive and he sure could sure use some pug angels to help out. We will continue to evaluate him and determine if and when he might be ready to be adopted.

Frannie
Frannie

Frannie is a special little old gal that is definitely in her senior years. She is most likely at least ten years old with lots of spirit left. She is shy at first but when she settles in, likes to follow you around and hang out in the evenings on your lap or the sofa. She still has a feisty spirit and doesn’t take guff from anyone, although she gets along with all of her foster brothers and sisters. She loves to sleep next to you at night and cuddle and is hoping for a home that will consider a senior to love. They truly do make wonderful companions. If you would like to adopt Frannie, be a Virtual Foster or just make a donation, contact us at homewardboundpugs@cox.net.

Paddy
Paddy

Paddy is an 8 year old pug. His former owners had moved and left Paddy behind to fend for himself. He is the sweetest dog. He loves to snuggle close on the couch and in bed. Even though he's a little older, he still loves to play with his pug foster brothers. He loves treats (of course, he is a pug), but he does not snore! If you are looking for a sweet companion in your home - please consider Paddy. Please show him that there are families that want to give love to a pug and will never leave him again. Rascal
Rascal

Rascal is a 6 year old boy that came to us because his mommy went into an assisted living center and unfortunately had to give him up because she kept tripping over him with her walker and they were afraid she would fall and break her hip. Rascal was living in an abandoned house all by himself with no other animals or human companionship for over 6 weeks before we could get him into rescue. He was very sad and lonely. He had no idea what had happened to his home and mommy. Rascal is one of the sweetest gentlemen you will ever meet. He has some skin issues right now that we are treating him for and in no time he will be beautiful and looking for his forever home.

Do you want a pug that will just lay with you while you watch TV? Maybe take a walk with you around the neighborhood? Or just be that companion that you have always wanted? Rascal will not disappoint you. His life has only just begun and he would like to shower you with love for the rest of his life. Please consider giving this wonderful pug his forever home – he so deserves it.

If you would like to adopt Rascal, be a Virtual Foster or just make a donation, contact us at homewardboundpugs@cox.net.

Ruby
Ruby Ruby

This poor little girl is only around six months old and has been neglected to the point that she had oozing sores on her little body. Ruby has a very treatable condition and will be beautiful soon. She loves to play and is a typical youngster. Ruby must have been miserable for a long time but all that is behind her now. With good food, some medication and a soft bed to curl up on she will soon know what love is all about. If you have been looking for a young female black puggie, Rudy would love to fill your home with love and laughter.

UPDATE: Ruby’s fur has grown in and she is a beautiful, healthy and happy girl. Ruby is in the same foster home as Leela, who is blind. Ruby has taken on the responsibility of being Leela’s eyes and also her best friend. We would like to place these girls together if possible, as we feel it would be unfair to separate them after all they both have been through. If you are looking for a pair, these two will keep you entertained.

If you would like to adopt Ruby, be a Virtual Foster or just make a donation, contact us at homewardboundpugs@cox.net.

Lela
Lela Lela

Lela is just seven months old and blind. The vet thinks she was kicked in the head as a puppy and it detached her retinas. She had a rough start in life but has a sweet and forgiving spirit. She is a precious girl who is not in the least intimidated by her loss of vision. She is housetrained and very smart. She is learning to go down stairs and gets along great in her foster home. Lela needs a buddy to help be her eyes but other than that she is a typical puppy and is waiting for that special home to find her.

UPDATE: Lela is being fostered in the same home as Ruby and they have become so bonded that we would like to place them together if possible. They both have been through so much and are the best of friends. If you are looking for a pair that will love and entertain you please consider Leela and Ruby.

If you would like to adopt Lela, be a Virtual Foster or just make a donation, contact us at homewardboundpugs@cox.net.

Pugsley
Pugsley
Pugsley

Pugsley is the sweetest senior ever. He likes to play and then will take a nice nap. He gets along great with his younger foster sister and brother and is a complete joy to have around. Pugsley has heartworms from being left outside and not on HW preventative. We will be treating him the end of May and he will be ready to recuperate quietly with his new family. Puglsey deserves to have a home of his own and be treated like royalty the rest of his life. If you would like to adopt Pugsley, be a Virtual Foster or just make a donation, contact us at homewardboundpugs@cox.net.

Mollie
Mollie

Mollie was surrendered with her brother, Bubba because their owner had terminal cancer and could no longer give them the care that they need. Mollie is 10 years old and very loving. She is doing well with her brother Bubba in their foster home – but they want a permanent forever home. If you are looking for a loving pug to fill your pug need, please consider opening your home to Mollie and Bubba – you won’t be disappointed in the love you will receive in return.

If you would like to adopt Mollie, be a Virtual Foster or just make a donation, contact us at homewardboundpugs@cox.net.

Su Lin
Su Lin

Su Lin was turned into a local shelter. She is 12 years old, diabetic and visually impaired. The family took her things to the shelter as though she would be adopted. There is no way anyone would have adopted this sweet girl. This is not the face of a puggie that is ready to leave this world so we were called. Su Lin is very vocal, loves to cuddle and has already learned the dog door. It is heartbreaking to think that she has lost her home at this age and that her family didn’t stand by her. We immediately took her to our vet to get her blood sugar stabilized. Su Lin loves to be by your side every minute and hopes that a family will see how special she is. She still has lots of love to give.

If you would like to adopt Su Lin, be a Virtual Foster or just make a donation, contact us at homewardboundpugs@cox.net.
