ImportantJust a few words about our babies. We will no longer adopt to families with a big dog either outside or inside. Too many of our pugs have been either injured or killed by large dogs that have gotten along with them for years. We simply can not take that chance any longer. If you have any questions, contact us for more information.

Adoption Fees

Adoption fees range from $125.00 to $300.00 depending on the age and health of the Pug. The fee will be discussed during the application period. The fee is in place to cover the costs of vaccination, spay or neuter, heartworm testing and to treat other medical issues.

If you are looking for a young, energetic guy please consider applying for Voltaire. He sure is a cutie. If you would like to adopt Voltaire, be a Virtual Foster or just make a donation, contact us at homewardboundpugs@cox.net.

He is very bonded with his brother Buddy Boy and would love to be adopted with him. They have the same parents but were born a year apart. Kingsley is well socialized and has been in a loving home. Lefty
Lefty Lefty

Lefty came to us with his momma Bella and his two sisters when he was just a day old. When old enough, he was adopted into a loving family. Unfortunately because of circumstances beyond his control, he had to be relinquished back to the rescue. Lefty is a beautiful boy and will turn one in May. His momma was tiny but his daddy must have been a brute, as Lefty is a big boy, but oh so gentle and loving. He loves to play and has been used to a fur brother or sister, so we want Lefty to continue to have a fur sibling to play with. Right now he is hanging out with his fur brothers and sisters that he had in his previous family. He particularly likes t o play with his sister Scooby. Lefty deserves another chance at being the spoiled prince he was used to. Please consider giving our gentle giant a wonderful forever home. If you would like to adopt Lefty, be a Virtual Foster or just make a donation, contact us at homeward boundpugs@cox.net.

Ruthie
Ruthie

Ruthie is the cutest little senior we have taken in lately. She was being kept outside and was covered in hundreds of ticks. By the time we got her, she was lifeless and had just about given up hope that someone would help her. When we got to the Vets she had to have an immediate dental as her teeth and gums were so infected. She is anemic from all the ticks literally sucking the life out of her. But now, she is a new Puggie. She is feeling so much better and all her tests came out negative for heartworms and erlichia. We truly expected a lot of health issues because of the condition we got her in. Ruthie is a fighter and is so happy that she smiles, gives lots of kisses and wags her tail all the time. Won’t you please consider our sweet Ruthie who fought so hard so she could have the forever home she deserves. If you would like to adopt Ruthie, be a Virtual Foster or just make a donation, contact us at homeward boundpugs@cox.net.

She barks when excited or wanting her meals but is a sweet and loving girl who gives lots of puggie kisses and wants to be right by your side. Scooby would love another fur brother or sister to play with, but she does prefer to be the boss. Scooby has been a pampered princess and is waiting for her new family to find her so she can continue her royal life. If you would like to adopt Scooby, be a Virtual Foster or just make a donation, contact us at homeward boundpugs@cox.net.

Bitsy
Bitsy

Bitsy is a tiny little pug of about four years old. Her owner died and the family couldn’t take her. She was placed in a home but her mommy could no longer afford to keep her. We knew Bitsy had some medical issues but after testing, it was determined that she has an internal liver shunt. As these can be very difficult to repair and they are not always successful, we decided to keep Bitsy on her meds and hope that she continues to feel comfortable and happy. We don’t know if Bitsy will have a long life but we promised it would be a great one. She is such a sweet and gentle soul and deserves a home of her very own where she will be loved and pampered for the rest of her days. If you would like to adopt Bitsy, be a Virtual Foster or just make a donation, contact us at homewardboundpugs@cox.net.

Clifford
Clifford

Clifford is one of our seniors. Don’t tell him that though, as he is a spunky, happy little guy who loves people!! Everyone who meets Cliffy falls in love with him. He makes friends very easily. J Clifford gets along well with other pugs but would also do well as a pampered only child, and is looking for a family that understands there is still lots of love and life in a senior pug. You can’t help but smile when you are around our sweet Cliffy. He is such a special boy! If you would like to adopt Clifford, be a Virtual Foster or just make a donation, contact us at homewardboundpugs@cox.net.

Oliver
Oliver

Oliver is between six and eight years old. He is in good health. He has an old eye injury that is healed and may need some drops in his eyes but other than that he feels great. He was relinquished by his owners as they no longer had the time to spend with him. He is shy at first but once he trusts you, he does come out of his shell and is a very good boy. Ollie knows how to sit and knows the command “down.” He is enjoying being back in the house and gets along well with his foster brothers and sisters. Ollie is hoping his forever family will come for him soon. Ollie also likes to make growly sounds which sound scary but are his way of communicating. He likes to play fetch and likes his toys. Ollie is not your typical pug lap dog but does enjoy being near you and is very well crate trained. He will make some lucky family a great companion. If he has a fur brother or sister they need to be laid back, as Oliver likes to be top dog. If you would like to adopt Oliver, be a Virtual Foster or just make a donation, contact us at homewardboundpugs@cox.net.

Aiko
Aiko

Aiko is a sweet little guy who is three and a half years old. Aiko was in a shelter and although his sisters all got adopted he was left behind. He was finally adopted by a kind lady, but it became too much to give the attention Aiko needed and tend to a new human baby also. You see Aiko is not like most pugs. He was born with his elbows fused to the surrounding bones so his front legs are permanently bent. He doesn’t know he is disabled and is a funny little guy that is looking for that special home that will look past his slight imperfection and see his true spirit. Aiko doesn’t walk like normal pugs but does manage to get around. We are looking into the possibility of a cart made exclusively for dogs with front leg impairments. This will be quite costly so any donations for his care would be greatly appreciated. We think Aiko deserves some wheels so he can chase squirrels and run after a ball like other puggies his age. Aiko has lots of love to give and is hoping some family will see how special he is and give him a forever home. If you would like to adopt Aiko, be a Virtual Foster or just make a donation, contact us at homewardboundpugs@cox.net.

Edgar
Edgar

Edgar is very much a senior boy. He is most likely at least thirteen years old, was in a local shelter, and would have been euthanized if we hadn’t taken him. Edgar had internal parasites, a bad cough, yeasty skin and is very very thin. But these are all fixable things and he has a lot of spunk for an old coot. He will howl or scream if he can’t find you. Oh yes, he is also blind. But he hates to sit still and will wander around the house for a long time trying hard to explore his new world. Edgar will give big sloppy kisses when he feels like it and has started playing with my hands when he feels really chipper. He is a sweet old man who would love to spend the rest of his days in a loving home with a warm bed and people to love. I hope someone out there can open their home and heart to this old gent. He really is a special boy. If you would like to adopt Edgar, be a Virtual Foster or just make a donation, contact us at homewardboundpugs@cox.net.

Hank
Hank

Hank is a beautiful boy who was in a local shelter. He is about two years old. He had an infected eye that had to be removed, but you would never know it. With all those head wrinkles, he just looks like he is always winking at you. Hank was not very healthy when he was first found, but is on the road to feeling good again and is looking for that special forever family that will take better care of him and not ever let him get loose again. If you would like to adopt Hank, be a Virtual Foster or just make a donation, contact us at homewardboundpugs@cox.net.

Henry
Henry

Poor Henry has not had a very good life so far. He was turned into a local shelter by his previous owners in very bad shape. His eyes looked like two plastic orbs because they were so neglected and dried out. Henry is blind because no one cared enough to purchase eye drops from their pharmacy to wet his eyes. That is all he needed when he was younger and his eyes could have been saved. He was also left outside and has erlichia from ticks and heartworm disease caused by mosquitoes. He was covered in fleas when he first came into rescue and his fur was very coarse from poor food. Henry is eight years old and we are going to get this sweet boy all fixed up and ready for his new life. After several days of medicated and lubricating drops, Henry’s eyes look so much better and we can tell he feels better too!! He is starting to trot around the yard and is getting along great learning his new surroundings. So many people are afraid to take a blind dog in to their home but they have no idea how quickly they adjust and act like a sighted dog. Henry is such a sweet guy and loves to be right by you lying on a nice soft pillow or in a dog bed. Henry has lots of years left to shower a lucky family with love and wants to make up for lost time. Please consider giving this distinguished gent another chance at a loving forever home. If you would like to adopt Henry, be a Virtual Foster or just make a donation, contact us at homewardboundpugs@cox.net.

Bravo
Bravo

Bravo is a darling boy of about two years old. We have been working with the family for several months to relinquish him as he was being kept outside in the heat of summer and did not have a fenced yard to keep him safe. Bravo is re-learning what it is like to be inside and is loving every minute of it. He loves to play with the younger pugs and is just a sweet boy. Bravo will require drops in his eyes on a daily basis to keep them moist. He had a severe case of dry eye and his vision isn’t perfect but he can see and gets around great. Bravo is ready to go to his new home and be an inside pug forever. He promises to give lots and lots of love and kisses to his new family. If you would like to adopt Bravo, be a Virtual Foster or just make a donation, contact us at homewardboundpugs@cox.net.

Don Vito
Don Vito

Don Vito is a precious little guy that just turned one in April. His daddy is helping protect our country in Iraq and there was just no time for Vito with two small children to take care of by mommy. He is the sweetest little guy and just loves to be held or play with his rubber piggy or suck on his stuffed beaver. He is so wrinkled he looks like a Sharpei but is 100% pug. Even his little feet are wrinkled. Vito is such a love and will make some lucky family a wonderful addition. For a youngster he is very mellow and laid back. He gets along great with all his foster brothers and sisters and even went to a pug meet up the other day and did fine. He is still a bit confused with his new surroundings so we are hoping he can be placed quickly to start his new life. If you have been looking for a young pug boy, this little fella might be just the one. If you would like to adopt Don Vito, be a Virtual Foster or just make a donation, contact us at homewardboundpugs@cox.net.
Don Vito is currently on medical hold.

UPDATE
Don Vito has been a very sick little boy. Two weeks after we got him he started showing neurological symptoms and was immediately rushed to the vet. All his liver values were off the charts and it was determined he had a liver shunt. He spent a week in the hospital trying to get his seizures under control, receiving IV fluids and meds. He finally got to come home but because of his liver not functioning he is blind. He was strong enough for surgery in late December and although he has come a long way, we don’t know if we will ever see the puppy he once was. As you can imagine, his vet bills are extensive and he sure could sure use some pug angels to help out. We will continue to evaluate him and determine if and when he might be ready to be adopted.

Fanny
Fanny

Fanny is another little senior that was a stray in the shelter. No one claimed her and she was scheduled to be euthanized. Fanny has an old eye ulcer and came to us with hot spots and a urinary tract infection. She is feeling much better now and is eagerly awaiting a home that will realize what a joy it is to rescue a senior puggie. She is a sweetheart. If you would like to adopt Fanny, be a Virtual Foster or just make a donation, contact us at homewardboundpugs@cox.net.

Gidget
Gidget Gidget

Gidget is our little miracle girl. She was rescued from a busy highway and came to us after all efforts to locate her owner failed. We noticed she was trying to urinate but couldn’t so off to the vet we went. Poor little gadget had a bladder stone as big as a golf ball!! When our vet was doing her surgery he discovered the biggest mess he has ever seen. For a young girl of less than two, her bladder was in terrible shape and one kidney was just a huge blood clot. All of her pre surgery blood work was off the charts and no one thought she would survive surgery but that was the only chance to save her. She did survive the surgery and once again my vet didn’t think she would make it to the next day. But she did!! She still has a very long way to go to get well, but she is eating and drinking and pottying on her own. We don’t know how this baby got in such bad shape, but if we can pull her through this, we will make sure that she gets the most perfect forever home. Right now she needs prayers and donations towards her extensive vet bills. If you would like to adopt Gidget, be a Virtual Foster or just make a donation, contact us at homewardboundpugs@cox.net.
Update: Gidget had her bloodwork retested and it is now within normal ranges!! She is playing, and although she may always have a weak bladder, is doing just great. Gidget loves all the attention and for this reason, would do best as an only child with lots and lots of love lavished on her.

Bandit
Bandit
Bandit

Bandit was turned into rescue with his littermate, MoJo, and four other brothers and sisters of various ages. Bandit also lost his left eye but not at the same time MoJo lost his and he gets along great with just the one eye. He is a big bigger than his brother but has lots of energy and is a happy go lucky guy of four. Bandit gets along great with all his foster pug brothers and sisters. He is also very thin right now but we are working on putting some weight on him. He doesn’t seem to mind the extra food but is a bit more picky about it then his brother. Bandit is relearning his house manners but is doing great and knows how to use a doggie door. If you have been looking for a little black pug boy to love, please consider providing a forever home for Bandit. He would love to be adopted with his brother MoJo!!
